What We Do

The Care Center is a Christian organization established in 1992 whose mission is to serve the homeless and abused women and their children. Many of these women have found themselves in a particularly dangerous situation, often as a victim of abuse.

The women come to The Care Center in a variety of ways. It could be as a referral from a drug or alcohol rehab facility or even as a federally relocated witness.

No matter who has come to The Care Center for help, or what the situation is that they are coming out of, The Care Center seeks to show the love of God in a tangible way so that His love will then change them from the inside out.

For people interested in receiving help from The Care Center, the first step is to have a person to person entry interview. The staff must know what has caused them to be in need of the services of The Care Center and feel confident that this person is genuinely interested in progress.

After completing a successful entry interview, The Care Center team, under the leadership of Nathan Young, structures a guideline for growth based on the unique circumstances of each individual. This guideline forms the basis of the Progress Contract and is the foundation for the required accountability.

The Progress Contract focuses on physical, emotional, and spiritual development and well-being. The goal of The Care Center is to guide their residents to maintain a healthy, sustainable, and productive life outside The Care Center. This is a life of emotional freedom gained through inner healing, a life of spiritual growth gained through a relationship with Jesus Christ, and a life of financial independence through gainful employment.

To show they agree to the Progress Contract, each woman will sign it and consent to  meet with the staff monthly in order to review and assess their progress. During these meetings, the residents will also be expected to be accountable to measure their growth toward independence. As a resident progresses and improves their stability, they can be transitioned into Genesis Homes, the transitional complex, also managed by The Care Center.

The staff, directors, and board are unapologetically Christ-centered. Every step that is taken is done in an effort to show Christ’s love to the people around them. As a resident matures in their stability and independence, it is the prayer of The Care Center team that they will also grow in their personal relationship with the Lord.
